Term 2 is rapidly coming to an end here at Brookswood. This past week was very busy for staff and students, with our musical finishing its second week, students on field trips and of course, Valentine’s Day. Term 2 does conclude in the coming weeks, and so students need to be aware that their teacher’s have set specific deadlines for assessment purposes. If you are uncertain of where your student stands, please contact their teachers. From the other side–if a teacher has contacted you regarding their concern for missing work from your student, it is very important that you return their call or email them so they know you are aware of the situation.
IN (AND OUT) OF THE CLASSROOM
Our art classes continue to “wow” us this week at Brookswood, with a new display in the cafeteria! Congratulations to Linda Beningfield who is our Art Student of the Month!
French 8 students went on an adventure this week to the Richmond Oval to watch fencing! Perfect timing during the Olympics to visit one of the main competitive venues during the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver!
There were two wonderful multicultural events this week at Brookswood! First, our Multicultural Club had an evening of performances and delicious food with with our international students and their homestay families to celebrate the arrival of the Lunar New Year!
Second, our Leadership class had a Multicultural Celebration at lunch on Friday where students enjoyed the opportunity to try out a variety of snacks and treats from around the globe! Some dishes were for adventurous that others, but it was enjoyed by staff and students alike.
MUSICAL: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
What (another) amazing musical! We can rave enough about the cast and crew and orchestra and staff and volunteers that made this year’s production of Fiddler on the Roof possible. We will be featuring more photos in the coming weeks!
Yearbooks must be ordered by Feb. 21
Lots happening the the world of basketball here at Brookswood. First, congratulations to Coach Stewart and his Junior Boys, who placed first in Langley for league play. The Junior Boys worked their way through a few hits and misses during the Fraser Valley Championships, but as the host team for the BC Junior Boys Provincial Championships will be seeded last place to complete in the tournament, which is happening next week at the Langley Event Centre.
Langley United Wrestling Results
10 Langley wrestlers from schools across the district have qualified for provincials! Congratulations to Jassa Randhawa (5th place) and Matthew Kaita, who won the GOLD MEDAL!
