IN (AND OUT) OF THE CLASSROOM
What are Lit Circles?
Literature circles allow students in English class to exercise voice and choice in their learning. The purpose of a literature circle is to give students an opportunity to read a book they have chosen and be able to discuss the book with their peers. Students have book meetings in which they discuss certain aspects of their novels. Teachers set out the structure of the meetings, and students are in charge of the pacing of their reading, as well as the discussion of their novel. This allows students an opportunity to take ownership of their learning.
The photo here shows groups in Ms. Bergman-Wood’s class participating in Lit Circle discussions.

GRAD NIGHT OUT
Please use the designated DROP-OFF/PICK-UP lanes that circles the perimeter of the student parking lot. Do NOT park in the bus lanes, as it is causing issues when directing traffic out of the parking lot, especially after school. If you need to park and wait for your student, please park in a parking spot in the actual parking lot, not the bus lane. Another reminder to parents to NOT go to the front of the school, even if you arrive prior to the bell. Thank you for adhering to this important reminders, as when everyone follows these important rules, we make pick-up and drop-off less busy and of course, much safer for students and our traffic directors!
Yearbooks can be ordered only online via the same system as our student fees. Yearbooks are very important to students, especially at the end of the year. Grade 12 students who order yearbooks are given a commemorative Grad Box to house their yearbooks. Oftentimes parents and students do not remember to order yearbooks, and we have a number of disappointed students at the end of the year. Please be sure to check with your student whether they wish to order a yearbook, and submit your order via: https://sd35.schoolcashonline.com/
NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 21.
REMINDER: PICK UP YOUR BABY PHOTOS FROM ROOM 234 (GRADS)
MUSICAL: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF
Our annual musical begins this coming week! Please come out and support the hundreds of hours of work out theatre and music departments have put in to make this wonderful show happen! Tickets are available here: https://brookswoodfiddler.brownpapertickets.com or visit the green room after school to purchase from Ms. Eyre.
