This is our last Bobcat’s Den in October, and we are happy to say that we’ve had another enjoyable month here at Brookswood.  With that being said, there is a lot happening between now and Fall Break (November 10-13) so make sure you remind students to listen to announcements, check their calendars and watch our new TV monitors in the foyer!   Student Council has some big plans for our school next week as they have planned Spirit Week for our students, with Halloween being on Tuesday.  This past week we hope you had a chance to log in to your MyEd account and view student interim comments, and book an interview with teachers you feel you need to touch base with.

INTERIM REPORTS

Interim reports have been posted by teachers on MyEdBC.  To view, parents or students can log in to their MyEd account, and click on each individual class to view the “interim assignment.”  This interim reporting period, our teachers have taken a fair bit of time and effort to provide meaningful comments for students in each course. Please take the time to review these comments with your children and use them as starting points for conversations about their work habits and progress in learning of course content.

If you are not sure how to log into MyEd, there are instructions available here. There is information posted on our Brookswood website as well.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

You will be able to book your interviews online starting at Noon on Wednesday, October 25th up to Tuesday afternoon, October 31st at 1:00 pm.  Each appointment will be 10 minutes.

IN THE CLASSROOM

Students were exploring a variety of cultures and concepts this week! Our grade 8 computers classes have been exploring name popularity over time with Microsoft Excel, Mr. Costopolous’ class was analyzing French Revolution music, and speaking of French, some of our French 8 students were learning how to fence!

MULTICULTURAL CLUB

Ms. Dufort took our Multicultural Club on a fun adventure this week, filled with good food, fun conversation and spooky excitement!  This event had some of our Korean students put on a performance, after which students and staff went for dinner at a Mandarin restaurant where students learned the origin and traditions of Halloween.  After dinner, they journeyed to Reaper’s Haunted House and the Maze of Terror.
